Wisdom Teeth Removal
Not every wisdom tooth needs to go. If yours are healthy and well-positioned, we simply keep an eye on them; when one is causing trouble, removal is a minor procedure under local anaesthetic.

What is wisdom teeth removal?
Wisdom teeth removal takes out the third molars at the back of your mouth when there's no room for them or they're causing trouble. When a wisdom tooth is impacted, meaning stuck under gum or bone, it's removed with a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthetic.

Who it's for

Frequently asked questions
What is wisdom teeth removal?
Wisdom teeth removal takes out the third molars at the back of your mouth when there's no room for them or they're causing trouble. An impacted wisdom tooth is removed with a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthetic. Not every wisdom tooth needs to go; healthy, well-positioned teeth are simply monitored.
Do all wisdom teeth need to be removed?
No. If they're healthy, fully erupted, and not causing problems, we leave them alone and keep an eye on them. We only recommend removal when there's a clear reason.
Is wisdom tooth removal painful?
The procedure itself is done under anaesthetic, so you won't feel pain. Afterwards, expect some soreness and swelling for a few days, well controlled with medication.
Is it done under general anaesthetic?
Most cases are done comfortably under local anaesthetic in the clinic, so you're awake but numb. For complex cases or very anxious patients, we'll discuss sedation or refer you for treatment under GA.
How long is recovery?
Most people feel much better within three to five days, with full gum healing over a couple of weeks. Impacted removals may take a little longer.
What can I eat after wisdom tooth removal?
Soft and cool for the first two days: porridge, yoghurt, soup that isn't hot, scrambled eggs. Avoid anything spicy, crunchy, or hot, and skip straws entirely, since sucking can dislodge the healing clot.
Can I remove all four at once?
Sometimes, depending on your case and preference. We'll advise whether to do them together or in stages after reviewing your X-rays.
What's the difference between an erupted and impacted wisdom tooth?
An erupted tooth has come through normally and is often simple to remove. An impacted tooth is stuck under gum or bone and needs a minor surgical approach.
